Jeans are a very popular item of clothing and a vital part of many people's wardrobes. They are comfortable and versatile, and can be dressed up with a shirt and jacket or worn casually with a t-shirt. Most jeans are made primarily of cotton, so they are durable and will last a long time with proper care. Learning the basics of how to wash jeans will help to keep them looking good and lasting for many years.

1. Set your washing machine to the gentle or delicate cycle.

2. Put a mild or good quality laundry detergent in your washing machine prior to washing jeans.

3. Allow your washing machine to fill with cold water.

4. Turn your jeans inside out prior to putting them into the washing machine to keep the fabric looking its best.

5. Read the label on your jeans to see if there are any specific jean washing tips that you need to follow.

6. Put your jeans in the washing machine with only other jeans or clothing of similar color and begin the washing cycle.

7. Remove your jeans from the washer when the cycle has finished.

8. Turn your jeans right side out to begin the drying process.

  • You may also hang them on a clothing rack or on an outside clothesline to dry. If you prefer to put them in the dryer, set it on a low, cool setting to avoid shrinking.

9. Fold your jeans once at the knee level and hang them on a clothes hanger to dry.
